My Wattpad Journey

Updated: Sep 17, 2018

I had always wanted to write, but I never knew where to do it. I wanted my works to be seen by the world, but didn't want to go through the long process of writing numerous drafts and then publishing them. Then, a friend recommended I use Wattpad.

And then BOOM! I started writing a book with my favourite genre - action. The amount of reads and votes I got was overwhelmingly positive, and I even had readers living in Uganda!

Unlike the normal writing format, Wattpad encourages you to keep your chapters short. That way, it won't be to overwhelming for your readers to read. End your chapters/parts in a cliffhanger, and let your followers know when you publish a new chapter and take their feedback into consideration. Look at the reader statistics so that you know where the votes dropped and went up. Be consistent. Don't pick up from nowhere and don't add too many characters. Make sure your story makes sense, and don't give up! If you have writers block, by all means, take a break! But get back at it when inspiration hits! Follow all of these guidelines and voila! You are now a Watty!

I've been a Wattpad member for about a year now and my story is going strong. I am proud to say that I sit in front of my laptop in a Wattpad shirt, and can officially call myself a Watty!
